Good Afternoon Pine Ridge Families;
We have now completed our first full week of semester 2. Timetable changes are complete and students are starting to dig into the curriculum. We also are beginning the planning process for next year with course selections and assemblies next week for students returning to High School. It is important that students start looking at their long range plans, consider how they learn best and try to make the best selections for their future goals. The students selections that occur this February are the driving factor in which courses we are able to offer for the next school year. Take the time to sit with your student and look at the course options with them to help them with making their selections. If you have any question about programs, courses, and other opportunities for your student, please reach out to our Guidance Department.
Upcoming Math Contests:
All students interested in writing the University of Waterloo Math Contests are invited to contact their Math teachers to register. The deadline is Tuesday February 13th. If your student took Math during semester 1, ask them to contact Mr. Garcia in room 3082 in the Math Wing. Students in Grades 10 to 11 will write on Wednesday, February 28 during school time. We will make arrangements once we have final numbers. The cost is $6.00 per student.
Students in Grade 12 will write on Wednesday April 3 during school time. Similar to the other grades, we will make arrangements once we have a final number of students. The entry fee for this contest is $18.

In preparation for these tests, students can join in practice sessions with questions from previous years’ contests, they will be notified after they confirm their interest. Immunization Update:
Durham Regional Health will be at Pine Ridge on February 14th to connect with students and families who have not updated their immunization records online. They will be at the school administering immunizations for those that need them with permission of their parent/guardians. For those who do not update their records, suspensions will begin March 5th.
