VOLUNTEERS

Student volunteers play a pivotal role in our Resource Centre. Any student interested in volunteer opportunities within the Resource Centre should speak to Ms. Bolsonello, Ms. Malcolmson or Ms. Lewis. Our volunteers earn community service hours.  Signup occurs during the first week of each semester.  There are opportunities before school, at lunch and after school.

LITERACY

The Resource Centre staff is committed to on-going literacy initiatives within the school community such as BASS testing, LLI focus groups and SOAR testing.  Our growing collection of graphic novels, teen fiction and magazines can be signed out for personal reading.

WHITE PINE

The White Pine Reading Program was created to celebrate Canadian Fiction written for young adults. The program encourages high school students to read for pleasure. Students are invited to participate in our White Pine Reading Program including lunch-time discussion groups, reading incentives and prizes. Students who read at least five of the ten nominated books will qualify to vote for their favourite and those who read all ten titles will receive a special certificate.

THE UNDERBRUSH

Pine Ridge's own fall reading program features 10 books that are sure to appeal to teens.  After you read the book, you can rate the book and add your comments to the book "cover".  Come and find out what's happening.....in the Underbrush!
