OSSLT Information

After School OSSLT Preparation Sessions

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) measures whether students are meeting the

minimum standard for literacy across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9. All students write the

OSSLT in Grade 10.

Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the requirements to earn an Ontario

Secondary School Diploma. All Grade 10 students will write the literacy test on March 31, 2020.

At Pine Ridge Secondary School, we will be offering an after school OSSLT Preparation program as

part of our Student Success Program to support student achievement. This series of 11 sessions

provides students with skills and strategies to improve their literacy skills and to increase the

likelihood of successful completion of the OSSLT requirement.  There is no cost for this program

but students who register are expected to attend all sessions in order to best prepare them for

success.

The After School OSSLT Preparation sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning

Thursday February 7th from 2.30 PM until 3:30 PM in Room 2104 at Pine Ridge Secondary School. The

program teachers, Ms. Anderson and Ms. Hopper, are supportive and approachable. All materials will

be provided for students. The program material is manageable and meaningful, and snacks will be

provided!

Please complete the form to register for the program and return it to the school by Monday

February 3, 2020. For more information about EQAO and to view a sample of its assessments, you are
