Message to Families January 26, 2024

Dear Pine Ridge Families,

The students have been doing great with the examination process so far.  Only one day left for those that still have to write.  We hope that students take the extra couple of days off to re-set and re-energize for second semester which begins of Thursday, February 1^st.  Be sure to check Parent Portal and provide your students a copy of their timetable so that they know where they are to go when they return. In the meantime, please take a moment to review the following information:

Below are resources to support you or someone you know when needed.  Share or save this information for easy access should you ever have a need.

Immediate Assistance:

• Call 9-1-1- if there is imminent safety risk
• Kids Help Phone: 1-800-668-6868 or text 686868
• York Support Services Network: 1-855-310 COPE (2673)- Community Crisis Response Service
• Distress Centre Durham at 905-430-2522 or 1-800-452-0688 for 24-hour help. They run a series of specialized phone lines for suicide survivors, LGBTQ+ and community support.
• Durham Region Mobile Crisis Service at 1-800-742-1890 or 905-666-0483 for free confidential support during a crisis. 
• Good2Talk at 1-866-925-5454 for free and confidential professional counselling and referrals for mental health, addiction and well-being.
• ONTX Ontario Online and Text Crisis Services by texting 258258.

Durham District School Board

Reminder re: Semester 2 Timetable Changes: 

Grade 12 – form opens February 1 (8am - 4pm)                               

Grade 11 – form opens on February 2 (8am - 4pm)                           

Grade 10 – form opens on February 5 (8am - 4pm)                           

Grade 9 – form opens on February 6 (8am - 4pm)                             

All students must follow their current Semester 2 timetable until they are contacted by Guidance.  Course changes are for compulsory course requirements, prerequisite issues, incomplete timetables and level changes.

Students must have a note from a parent/guardian approving all course change requests. We will call students to Guidance the day after forms are closed.
